And Zadok the priest took a horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and anointed Solomon. And they blew the trumpet; and all the people said, God save king Solomon.


And the hand of the Lord was on Eli´jah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.


and Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Eli´sha the son of Shaphat of A´bel–meho´lah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room.


And a certain man of the sons of the prophets said unto his neighbor in the word of the Lord, Smite me, I pray thee. And the man refused to smite him.


And the Lord said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ra´moth–gil´e-ad? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner.


And he said unto Jehosh´aphat, Wilt thou go with me to battle to Ra´moth–gil´e-ad? And Jehosh´aphat said to the king of Israel, I am as thou art, my people as thy people, my horses as thy horses.


And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Eli´jah doth rest on Eli´sha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.


And the sons of the prophets that were at Beth–el came forth to Eli´sha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Lord will take away thy master from thy head today? And he said, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.


And the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho came to Eli´sha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Lord will take away thy master from thy head today? And he answered, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.


And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood to view afar off: and they two stood by Jordan.


Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Eli´sha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the Lord: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.


Then he said to Geha´zi, Gird up thy loins, and take my staff in thine hand, and go thy way: if thou meet any man, salute him not; and if any salute thee, answer him not again: and lay my staff upon the face of the child.


So the young man, even the young man the prophet, went to Ra´moth–gil´e-ad.


And the inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahazi´ah his youngest son king in his stead: for the band of men that came with the Arabians to the camp had slain all the eldest. So Ahazi´ah the son of Jeho´ram king of Judah reigned.


He walked also after their counsel, and went with Jeho´ram the son of Ahab king of Israel to war against Haz´a-el king of Syria at Ra´moth–gil´e-ad: and the Syrians smote Joram.


Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them.


there came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.


Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the Lord God of your fathers giveth you.


Your eyes have seen what the Lord did because of Ba´al–pe´or: for all the men that followed Ba´al–pe´or, the Lord thy God hath destroyed them from among you.


Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;


Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because the Lord hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance?


And the Lord said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Beth´lehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.
