And all the people of Judah took Azari´ah, which was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amazi´ah.


And the people of the land slew all them that had conspired against king Amon; and the people of the land made Josi´ah his son king in his stead.


Behold therefore, I will gather thee unto thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered into thy grave in peace; and thine eyes shall not see all the evil which I will bring upon this place. And they brought the king word again.


And his servants carried him in a chariot to Jerusalem, and buried him in his sepulchre with his fathers in the city of David.


After all this, when Josi´ah had prepared the temple, Necho king of Egypt came up to fight against Car´chemish by Euphra´tes: and Josi´ah went out against him.


His servants therefore took him out of that chariot, and put him in the second chariot that he had; and they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died, and was buried in one of the sepulchres of his fathers. And all Judah and Jerusalem mourned for Josi´ah.


Weep ye not for the dead, neither bemoan him; but weep sore for him that goeth away: for he shall return no more, nor see his native country.


For thus saith the Lord touching Shallum the son of Josi´ah king of Judah, which reigned instead of Josi´ah his father, which went forth out of this place; He shall not return thither any more:


Moreover, take thou up a lamentation for the princes of Israel,
