And the Lord was gracious unto them, and had compassion on them, and had respect unto them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them, neither cast he them from his presence as yet.


And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Haz´a-el king of Syria, and into the hand of Ben–ha´dad the son of Haz´a-el, all their days.


Neither did he leave of the people to Jeho´ahaz but fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen; for the king of Syria had destroyed them, and had made them like the dust by threshing.


In the days of Pekah king of Israel came Tig´lath–pile´ser king of Assyria, and took Ijon, and A´bel–beth–ma´achah, and Jano´ah, and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Gil´e-ad, and Galilee, all the land of Naph´tali, and carried them captive to Assyria.


And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the Lord had charged them, that they should not do like them.


Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only.


And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Hezeki´ah, which was the seventh year of Hoshe´a son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmane´ser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it.


And I will forsake the remnant of mine inheritance, and deliver them into the hand of their enemies; and they shall become a prey and a spoil to all their enemies;


And the Lord said, I will remove Judah also out of my sight, as I have removed Israel, and will cast off this city Jerusalem which I have chosen, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there.


Surely at the commandment of the Lord came this upon Judah, to remove them out of his sight, for the sins of Manas´seh, according to all that he did;


O ye seed of Israel his servant, ye children of Jacob, his chosen ones.


And the seed of Israel separated themselves from all strangers, and stood and confessed their sins, and the iniquities of their fathers.


Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.


There were they in great fear, where no fear was: for God hath scattered the bones of him that encampeth against thee: thou hast put them to shame, because God hath despised them.


The boar out of the wood doth waste it, and the wild beast of the field doth devour it.


Therefore thou hast forsaken thy people the house of Jacob, because they be replenished from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves in the children of strangers.


In the Lord shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.


Then said the Lord unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth.


Fear thou not, O Jacob my servant, saith the Lord: for I am with thee; for I will make a full end of all the nations whither I have driven thee: but I will not make a full end of thee, but correct thee in measure; yet will I not leave thee wholly unpunished.


For through the anger of the Lord it came to pass in Jerusalem and Judah, till he had cast them out from his presence, that Zedeki´ah rebelled against the king of Babylon.


Reprobate silver shall men call them, because the Lord hath rejected them.


And I will cast you out of my sight, as I have cast out all your brethren, even the whole seed of E´phra-im.


And she conceived again, and bare a daughter. And God said unto him, Call her name Lo–ruha´mah: for I will no more have mercy upon the house of Israel; but I will utterly take them away.


He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and by his strength he had power with God:

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:


a land which the Lord thy God careth for: the eyes of the Lord thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.


And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith.


who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;


know for a certainty that the Lord your God will no more drive out any of these nations from before you; but they shall be snares and traps unto you, and scourges in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until ye perish from off this good land which the Lord your God hath given you.


And the children of Dan set up the graven image: and Jonathan, the son of Gershom, the son of Manas´seh, he and his sons were priests to the tribe of Dan until the day of the captivity of the land.


And the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.


For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king.


And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee: for thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, and the Lord hath rejected thee from being king over Israel.


And the Lord said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Beth´lehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.
