Nevertheless, David took the stronghold of Zion: the same is the city of David.


But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zido´ni-ans, and Hittites;


So David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David.


And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month Zif, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the Lord.


But Solomon was building his own house thirteen years, and he finished all his house.


And his house where he dwelt had another court within the porch, which was of the like work. Solomon made also a house for Pharaoh's daughter, whom he had taken to wife, like unto this porch.


And it came to pass, when Solomon had finished the building of the house of the Lord, and the king's house, and all Solomon's desire which he was pleased to do,


And it came to pass at the end of twenty years, when Solomon had built the two houses, the house of the Lord, and the king's house,


But Pharaoh's daughter came up out of the city of David unto her house which Solomon had built for her: then did he build Millo.


And David dwelt in the castle; therefore they called it the city of David.


Now Jehosh´aphat had riches and honor in abundance, and joined affinity with Ahab.


And Solomon brought up the daughter of Pharaoh out of the city of David unto the house that he had built for her: for he said, My wife shall not dwell in the house of David king of Israel, because the places are holy, whereunto the ark of the Lord hath come.


And thus they returned us answer, saying, We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and build the house that was builded these many years ago, which a great king of Israel builded and set up.


should we again break thy commandments, and join in affinity with the people of these abominations? wouldest not thou be angry with us till thou hadst consumed us, so that there should be no remnant nor escaping?


The children that are begotten of them shall enter into the congregation of the Lord in their third generation.
