And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the Lord came to Eli´jah in the third year, saying, Go, show thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth.


And Ahab called Obadi´ah, which was the governor of his house. (Now Obadi´ah feared the Lord greatly:


Now therefore thus saith the Lord, Thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die. And Eli´jah departed.


And there was a great famine in Samaria: and, behold, they besieged it, until an ass's head was sold for fourscore pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a cab of dove's dung for five pieces of silver.


The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?


Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.


Every day they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil.


The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.


I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass;


If I go forth into the field, then behold the slain with the sword! and if I enter into the city, then behold them that are sick with famine! yea, both the prophet and the priest go about into a land that they know not.


and your strength shall be spent in vain: for your land shall not yield her increase, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruits.


And when I have broken the staff of your bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver you your bread again by weight: and ye shall eat, and not be satisfied.
