The sons of Shem: `Elam, Ashur, Arpakhshad, Lud, and Aram.


In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Ashur took Shomron, and carried Yisra'el away to Ashur, and placed them in Chalach, and on the Chavor, the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Madai.


I look at the faithless with loathing, because they don't observe your word.


*Because of the oppression of the weak and because of the groaning of the needy, I will now arise,* says the LORD; *I will set him in safety from those who malign him.*


Yes, no one who waits for you shall be shamed. They shall be shamed who deal treacherously without cause.


You have shown your people hard things. You have made us drink the wine that makes us stagger.


Let the sighing of the prisoner come before you. According to the greatness of your power, preserve those who are sentenced to death.


Good understanding wins favor; but the way of the unfaithful is hard.


It will happen in that day that the Lord will set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant that is left of his people from Ashur, from Egypt, from Patros, from Kush, from `Elam, from Shin`ar, from Chamat, and from the islands of the sea.


that you will take up this parable against the king of Bavel, and say, *How the oppressor has ceased! The golden city has ceased!*

Thus says the LORD of Armies: Behold, I will break the bow of `Elam, the chief of their might.


Set yourselves in array against Bavel round about, all you who bend the bow; shoot at her, spare no arrows: for she has sinned against the LORD.


Their Redeemer is strong; the LORD of Armies is his name: he will thoroughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the earth, and disquiet the inhabitants of Bavel.


Make sharp the arrows; hold firm the shields: the LORD has stirred up the spirit of the kings of the Madai; because his purpose is against Bavel, to destroy it: for it is the vengeance of the LORD, the vengeance of his temple.


I will execute judgment on Bel in Bavel, and I will bring forth out of his mouth that which he has swallowed up; and the nations shall not flow any more to him: yes, the wall of Bavel shall fall.


Though Bavel should mount up to the sky, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from me shall destroyers come to her, says the LORD.


Let all their wickedness come before you; Do to them, as you have done to me for all my transgressions: For my sighs are many, and my heart is faint.


PERES; your kingdom is divided, and given to the Madai and Paras.

The ram which you saw, that had the two horns, they are the kings of Madai and Paras.


If anyone has captivity, he will go. If anyone is with the sword, he must be killed. Here is the endurance and the faith of the holy ones.


As says the proverb of the ancients, Out of the wicked comes forth wickedness; but my hand shall not be on you.
