Yosef laid up grain as the sand of the sea, very much, until he stopped counting, for it was without number.


Then Chaza'el king of Syria went up, and fought against Gat, and took it; and Chaza'el set his face to go up to Yerushalayim.


Then I said, 'I shall die in my own house, I shall number my days as the sand.


If I would count them, they are more in number than the sand. When I wake up, I am still with you.


In measure, when you send them away, you contend with them. He has removed them with his rough blast in the day of the east wind.


Their widows are increased to me above the sand of the seas; I have brought on them against the mother of the young men a destroyer at noonday: I have caused anguish and terrors to fall on her suddenly.

At that time shall it be said to this people and to Yerushalayim, A hot wind from the bare heights in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to winnow, nor to cleanse;


A lion is gone up from his thicket, and a destroyer of nations; he is on his way, he is gone forth from his place, to make your land desolate, that your cities be laid waste, without inhabitant.


Yes, behold, being planted, shall it prosper? shall it not utterly wither, when the east wind touches it? it shall wither in the beds where it grew.


But it was plucked up in fury, it was cast down to the ground, and the east wind dried up its fruit: its strong rods were broken off and withered; the fire consumed them.


He shall set his face to come with the strength of his whole kingdom, and with him equitable conditions; and he shall perform them: and he shall give him the daughter of women, to corrupt her; but she shall not stand, neither be for him.


Yet the number of the children of Yisra'el will be as the sand of the sea, which can't be measured nor numbered; and it will come to pass that, in the place where it was said to them, 'You are not my people,' they will be called 'sons of the living God.'


Though he is fruitful among his brothers, an east wind will come, the breath of the LORD coming up from the wilderness; and his spring will become dry, and his fountain will be dried up. He will plunder the storehouse of treasure.


Will he therefore continually empty his net, and kill the nations without mercy?


For, behold, I raise up the Kasdim, that bitter and hasty nation, that march through the breadth of the earth, to possess dwelling places that are not theirs.


Yeshaiyahu cries concerning Yisra'el, *If the number of the children of Yisra'el are as the sand of the sea, it is the remnant who will be saved;


The Midyanim and the `Amaleki and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like locusts for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand which is on the seashore for multitude.
