Avram said to the king of Sedom, *I have lifted up my hand to the LORD, El `Elyon, possessor of heaven and earth,


In that day the LORD made a covenant with Avram, saying, *To your seed I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Perat:


Sojourn in this land, and I will be with you, and will bless you. For to you, and to your seed, I will give all these lands, and I will establish the oath which I swore to Avraham your father.


Behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, *I am the LORD, the God of Avraham your father, and the God of Yitzchak. The land whereon you lie, to you will I give it, and to your seed.


The land which I gave to Avraham and Yitzchak, I will give it to you, and to your seed after you will I give the land.*


and gave them bread from the sky for their hunger, and brought forth water for them out of the rock for their thirst, and commanded those who they should go in to possess the land which you had sworn to give them.


It shall be, when the LORD shall bring you into the land of the Kena`ani, and the Chittite, and the Amori, and the Chivvi, and the Yevusi, which he swore to your fathers to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey, that you shall keep this service in this month.


Remember Avraham, Yitzchak, and Yisra'el, your servants, to whom you swore by your own self, and said to them, 'I will multiply your seed as the stars of the sky, and all this land that I have spoken of I will give to your seed, and they shall inherit it forever.'*


God spoke to Moshe, and said to him, *I am the LORD;


I have also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of Kena`an, the land of their travels, in which they lived as aliens.


Therefore tell the children of Yisra'el, 'I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm, and with great judgments:


Moreover also I swore to them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands;

therefore thus says the Lord GOD: I have sworn, [saying], Surely the nations that are round about you, they shall bear their shame.


You shall inherit it, one as well as another; for I swore to give it to your fathers: and this land shall fall to you for inheritance.


Moshe said to Chovav, the son of Re`u'el the Midyanite, Moshe' father-in-law, We are journeying to the place of which the LORD said, I will give it you: come you with us, and we will do you good; for the LORD has spoken good concerning Yisra'el.


Have I conceived all this people? Have I brought them forth, that you should tell me, Carry them in your bosom, as a nurse carries a nursing infant, to the land which you swore to their fathers?


surely you shall not come into the land, concerning which I swore that I would make you dwell therein, save Kalev the son of Yefunneh, and Yehoshua the son of Nun.


God is not a man, that he should lie, nor the son of man, that he should repent. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not make it good?


For I lift up my hand to heaven, And say, As I live forever,


for the LORD your God is a merciful God; he will not fail you, neither destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which he swore to them.


I gave you a land whereon you had not labored, and cities which you didn't build, and you dwell therein; of vineyards and olive groves which you didn't plant do you eat.


and swore by him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and the things that are in it, the earth and the things that are in it, and the sea and the things that are in it, that there will no longer be delay,


Also the Strength of Yisra'el will not lie nor repent; for he is not a man, that he should repent.
