I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son. When he commits iniquity, I will discipline him with the rod of men, with the stripes of the sons of men,


“Behold, blessed is the one whom God reproves; therefore despise not the discipline of the Almighty.


When you discipline a man with rebukes for sin, you consume like a moth what is dear to him; surely all mankind is a mere breath! Selah


O Lord, rebuke me not in your anger, nor discipline me in your wrath.


For zeal for your house has consumed me, and the reproaches of those who reproach you have fallen on me.


He who disciplines the nations, does he not rebuke? He who teaches man knowledge—


There is severe discipline for him who forsakes the way; whoever hates reproof will die.


Whoever ignores instruction despises himself, but he who listens to reproof gains intelligence.


Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline drives it far from him.


O Lord, in distress they sought you; they poured out a whispered prayer when your discipline was upon them.


Correct me, O Lord, but in justice; not in your anger, lest you bring me to nothing.


In vain have I struck your children; they took no correction; your own sword devoured your prophets like a ravening lion.


For I am with you to save you, declares the Lord; I will make a full end of all the nations among whom I scattered you, but of you I will not make a full end. I will discipline you in just measure, and I will by no means leave you unpunished.


I have heard Ephraim grieving, ‘You have disciplined me, and I was disciplined, like an untrained calf; bring me back that I may be restored, for you are the Lord my God.


And you shall say to them, ‘This is the nation that did not obey the voice of the Lord their God, and did not accept discipline; truth has perished; it is cut off from their lips.


She listens to no voice; she accepts no correction. She does not trust in the Lord; she does not draw near to her God.


Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps.


His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for your house will consume me.”


Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.


But when we are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined so that we may not be condemned along with the world.


as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold, we live; as punished, and yet not killed;


For see what earnestness this godly grief has produced in you, but also what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what longing, what zeal, what punishment! At every point you have proved yourselves innocent in the matter.


It is always good to be made much of for a good purpose, and not only when I am present with you,


Know then in your heart that, as a man disciplines his son, the Lord your God disciplines you.


who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.


Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.


Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.
