He also rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God. He stiffened his neck and hardened his heart against turning to the Lord, the God of Israel.


And all the king’s servants who were at the king’s gate bowed down and paid homage to Haman, for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai did not bow down or pay homage.


A perverse heart shall be far from me; I will know nothing of evil.


I will look with favor on the faithful in the land, that they may dwell with me; he who walks in the way that is blameless shall minister to me.


I am a companion of all who fear you, of those who keep your precepts.


As for the saints in the land, they are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.
