Then he said, “Let me go, for the day has broken.” But Jacob said, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.”


I wait for your salvation, O Lord.


And now, my lord the king, the eyes of all Israel are on you, to tell them who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.


O our God, will you not execute judgment on them? For we are powerless against this great horde that is coming against us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.”


My eyes long for your promise; I ask, “When will you comfort me?”


My eyes are ever toward the Lord, for he will pluck my feet out of the net.


And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart.


And the men of Gibeon sent to Joshua at the camp in Gilgal, saying, “Do not relax your hand from your servants. Come up to us quickly and save us and help us, for all the kings of the Amorites who dwell in the hill country are gathered against us.”

But Joshua made them that day cutters of wood and drawers of water for the congregation and for the altar of the Lord, to this day, in the place that he should choose.
