Terrors are turned upon me; my honor is pursued as by the wind, and my prosperity has passed away like a cloud.


Pour out the overflowings of your anger, and look on everyone who is proud and abase him.


The way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know over what they stumble.


For the stars of the heavens and their constellations will not give their light; the sun will be dark at its rising, and the moon will not shed its light.


Behold, the day of the Lord comes, cruel, with wrath and fierce anger, to make the land a desolation and to destroy its sinners from it.


And I will make justice the line, and righteousness the plumb line; and hail will sweep away the refuge of lies, and waters will overwhelm the shelter.”


Then your covenant with death will be annulled, and your agreement with Sheol will not stand; when the overwhelming scourge passes through, you will be beaten down by it.
