Now when the king lived in his house and the Lord had given him rest from all his surrounding enemies,


And as soon as I have gone from you, the Spirit of the Lord will carry you I know not where. And so, when I come and tell Ahab and he cannot find you, he will kill me, although I your servant have feared the Lord from my youth.


And Ahab called Obadiah, who was over the household. (Now Obadiah feared the Lord greatly,


Now it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.


O Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of your servant, and to the prayer of your servants who delight to fear your name, and give success to your servant today, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man.” Now I was cupbearer to the king.


When the affair was investigated and found to be so, the men were both hanged on the gallows. And it was recorded in the book of the chronicles in the presence of the king.


On that night the king could not sleep. And he gave orders to bring the book of memorable deeds, the chronicles, and they were read before the king.


And he said to man, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.’”


In the pride of his face the wicked does not seek him; all his thoughts are, “There is no God.”


I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have being.


The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!


he will bless those who fear the Lord, both the small and the great.


I am a companion of all who fear you, of those who keep your precepts.


Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.


but the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love.

Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.


You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.


In the path of your judgments, O Lord, we wait for you; your name and remembrance are the desire of our soul.


And he who is left in Zion and remains in Jerusalem will be called holy, everyone who has been recorded for life in Jerusalem,


Who among you fears the Lord and obeys the voice of his servant? Let him who walks in darkness and has no light trust in the name of the Lord and rely on his God.


Behold, it is written before me: “I will not keep silent, but I will repay; I will indeed repay into their lap


I have heard Ephraim grieving, ‘You have disciplined me, and I was disciplined, like an untrained calf; bring me back that I may be restored, for you are the Lord my God.

“At that time shall arise Michael, the great prince who has charge of your people. And there shall be a time of trouble, such as never has been since there was a nation till that time. But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone whose name shall be found written in the book.


A stream of fire issued and came out from before him; a thousand thousands served him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him; the court sat in judgment, and the books were opened.


“Then I will draw near to you for judgment. I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, against the adulterers, against those who swear falsely, against those who oppress the hired worker in his wages, the widow and the fatherless, against those who thrust aside the sojourner, and do not fear me, says the Lord of hosts.


But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall.


And coming up at that very hour she began to give thanks to God and to speak of him to all who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem.

a devout man who feared God with all his household, gave alms generously to the people, and prayed continually to God.

So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was being built up. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it multiplied.


addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart,


Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.


And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all.


And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,


See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no “root of bitterness” springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled;


But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.


Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”


And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done.
