“Greatly have they afflicted me from my youth”— let Israel now say—


Then Pharaoh summoned the wise men and the sorcerers, and they, the magicians of Egypt, also did the same by their secret arts.


But the magicians did the same by their secret arts and made frogs come up on the land of Egypt.


And the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils, for the boils came upon the magicians and upon all the Egyptians.


and the spirit of the Egyptians within them will be emptied out, and I will confound their counsel; and they will inquire of the idols and the sorcerers, and the mediums and the necromancers;


who frustrates the signs of liars and makes fools of diviners, who turns wise men back and makes their knowledge foolish,


And when they say to you, “Inquire of the mediums and the necromancers who chirp and mutter,” should not a people inquire of their God? Should they inquire of the dead on behalf of the living?


But where are your gods that you made for yourself? Let them arise, if they can save you, in your time of trouble; for as many as your cities are your gods, O Judah.


thus says the Lord God: Remove the turban and take off the crown. Things shall not remain as they are. Exalt that which is low, and bring low that which is exalted.


The thing that the king asks is difficult, and no one can show it to the king except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.”


Then the king commanded that the magicians, the enchanters, the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans be summoned to tell the king his dreams. So they came in and stood before the king.


Now the wise men, the enchanters, have been brought in before me to read this writing and make known to me its interpretation, but they could not show the interpretation of the matter.


the seers shall be disgraced, and the diviners put to shame; they shall all cover their lips, for there is no answer from God.


And all for the countless whorings of the prostitute, graceful and of deadly charms, who betrays nations with her whorings, and peoples with her charms.


And when the donkey saw the angel of the Lord, she pushed against the wall and pressed Balaam’s foot against the wall. So he struck her again.


nor did they repent of their murders or their sorceries or their sexual immorality or their thefts.
