Hosea 5:3

For before the boy knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land whose two kings you dread will be deserted.


The Lord will bring upon you and upon your people and upon your father’s house such days as have not come since the day that Ephraim departed from Judah—the king of Assyria!”


Because Syria, with Ephraim and the son of Remaliah, has devised evil against you, saying,


When the Lord first spoke through Hosea, the Lord said to Hosea, “Go, take to yourself a wife of whoredom and have children of whoredom, for the land commits great whoredom by forsaking the Lord.”


Ephraim feeds on the wind and pursues the east wind all day long; they multiply falsehood and violence; they make a covenant with Assyria, and oil is carried to Egypt.


When Ephraim spoke, there was trembling; he was exalted in Israel, but he incurred guilt through Baal and died.


It was I who knew you in the wilderness, in the land of drought;


Ephraim is oppressed, crushed in judgment, because he was determined to go after filth.


When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah his wound, then Ephraim went to Assyria, and sent to the great king. But he is not able to cure you or heal your wound.


Ephraim shall become a desolation in the day of punishment; among the tribes of Israel I make known what is sure.


In the house of Israel I have seen a horrible thing; Ephraim’s whoredom is there; Israel is defiled.


What shall I do with you, O Ephraim? What shall I do with you, O Judah? Your love is like a morning cloud, like the dew that goes early away.


Because Ephraim has multiplied altars for sinning, they have become to him altars for sinning.


“You only have I known of all the families of the earth; therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.


For I know how many are your transgressions and how great are your sins— you who afflict the righteous, who take a bribe, and turn aside the needy in the gate.


A firstborn bull—he has majesty, and his horns are the horns of a wild ox; with them he shall gore the peoples, all of them, to the ends of the earth; they are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they are the thousands of Manasseh.”


And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.


“‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot!
