But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night and said to him, “Behold, you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is a man’s wife.”


But when he told it to his father and to his brothers, his father rebuked him and said to him, “What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall I and your mother and your brothers indeed come to bow ourselves to the ground before you?”


Behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and behold, my sheaf arose and stood upright. And behold, your sheaves gathered around it and bowed down to my sheaf.”


His brothers said to him, “Are you indeed to reign over us? Or are you indeed to rule over us?” So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words.


Then Joseph said to Pharaoh, “The dreams of Pharaoh are one; God has revealed to Pharaoh what he is about to do.


And the doubling of Pharaoh’s dream means that the thing is fixed by God, and God will shortly bring it about.


Now Joseph was governor over the land. He was the one who sold to all the people of the land. And Joseph’s brothers came and bowed themselves before him with their faces to the ground.


When Joseph came home, they brought into the house to him the present that they had with them and bowed down to him to the ground.


They said, “Your servant our father is well; he is still alive.” And they bowed their heads and prostrated themselves.


When Judah and his brothers came to Joseph’s house, he was still there. They fell before him to the ground.


My lord asked his servants, saying, ‘Have you a father, or a brother?’


Hurry and go up to my father and say to him, ‘Thus says your son Joseph, God has made me lord of all Egypt. Come down to me; do not tarry.


Then Joseph prepared his chariot and went up to meet Israel his father in Goshen. He presented himself to him and fell on his neck and wept on his neck a good while.


And Joseph provided his father, his brothers, and all his father’s household with food, according to the number of their dependents.


It grew great, even to the host of heaven. And some of the host and some of the stars it threw down to the ground and trampled on them.


And he said, “Hear my words: If there is a prophet among you, I the Lord make myself known to him in a vision; I speak with him in a dream.


that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,
