yet his bow remained unmoved; his arms were made agile by the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob (from there is the Shepherd, the Stone of Israel),


But now for a brief moment favor has been shown by the Lord our God, to leave us a remnant and to give us a secure hold within his holy place, that our God may brighten our eyes and grant us a little reviving in our slavery.


The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.


Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock. You who are enthroned upon the cherubim, shine forth.

The lips of the righteous feed many, but fools die for lack of sense.


Incline your ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply your heart to my knowledge,


The words of a wise man’s mouth win him favor, but the lips of a fool consume him.


It is better for a man to hear the rebuke of the wise than to hear the song of fools.


And I will fasten him like a peg in a secure place, and he will become a throne of honor to his father’s house.


He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young.


Is not my word like fire, declares the Lord, and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?

Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant,


For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.


And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.
