You have indeed struck down Edom, and your heart has lifted you up. Be content with your glory, and stay at home, for why should you provoke trouble so that you fall, you and Judah with you?”


and you shall not forget the covenant that I have made with you. You shall not fear other gods,


But when he was strong, he grew proud, to his destruction. For he was unfaithful to the Lord his God and entered the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense.


But Hezekiah did not make return according to the benefit done to him, for his heart was proud. Therefore wrath came upon him and Judah and Jerusalem.


They forgot God, their Savior, who had done great things in Egypt,


so that they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments;


Then Moses said to the people, “Remember this day in which you came out from Egypt, out of the house of slavery, for by a strong hand the Lord brought you out from this place. No leavened bread shall be eaten.


And you, O generation, behold the word of the Lord. Have I been a wilderness to Israel, or a land of thick darkness? Why then do my people say, ‘We are free, we will come no more to you’?


They did not say, ‘Where is the Lord who brought us up from the land of Egypt, who led us in the wilderness, in a land of deserts and pits, in a land of drought and deep darkness, in a land that none passes through, where no man dwells?’


who think to make my people forget my name by their dreams that they tell one another, even as their fathers forgot my name for Baal?


And when the multitude is taken away, his heart shall be exalted, and he shall cast down tens of thousands, but he shall not prevail.


but when they had grazed, they became full, they were filled, and their heart was lifted up; therefore they forgot me.


And it shall be a tassel for you to look at and remember all the commandments of the Lord, to do them, not to follow after your own heart and your own eyes, which you are inclined to whore after.


“If your brother, the son of your mother, or your son or your daughter or the wife you embrace or your friend who is as your own soul entices you secretly, saying, ‘Let us go and serve other gods,’ which neither you nor your fathers have known,


that his heart may not be lifted up above his brothers, and that he may not turn aside from the commandment, either to the right hand or to the left, so that he may continue long in his kingdom, he and his children, in Israel.


“Only take care, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. Make them known to your children and your children’s children—


“‘I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.


and houses full of all good things that you did not fill, and cisterns that you did not dig, and vineyards and olive trees that you did not plant—and when you eat and are full,


“Take care lest you forget the Lord your God by not keeping his commandments and his rules and his statutes, which I command you today,


and when your herds and flocks multiply and your silver and gold is multiplied and all that you have is multiplied,


And the people of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the Lord. They forgot the Lord their God and served the Baals and the Asheroth.
