32 “For ask now of the days that are past, which were before you, since the day that God created man on the earth, and ask from one end of heaven to the other, whether such a great thing as this has ever happened or was ever heard of.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.


And who is like your people Israel, the one nation on earth whom God went to redeem to be his people, making himself a name and doing for them great and awesome things by driving out before your people, whom you redeemed for yourself from Egypt, a nation and its gods?


“For inquire, please, of bygone ages, and consider what the fathers have searched out.


O God, we have heard with our ears, our fathers have told us, what deeds you performed in their days, in the days of old:


And he said, “Behold, I am making a covenant. Before all your people I will do marvels, such as have not been created in all the earth or in any nation. And all the people among whom you are shall see the work of the Lord, for it is an awesome thing that I will do with you.


I made the earth and created man on it; it was my hands that stretched out the heavens, and I commanded all their host.


Hear this, you elders; give ear, all inhabitants of the land! Has such a thing happened in your days, or in the days of your fathers?


“You only have I known of all the families of the earth; therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.


And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

“And the Lord will scatter you among all peoples, from one end of the earth to the other, and there you shall serve other gods of wood and stone, which neither you nor your fathers have known.


If your outcasts are in the uttermost parts of heaven, from there the Lord your God will gather you, and from there he will take you.


Remember the days of old; consider the years of many generations; ask your father, and he will show you, your elders, and they will tell you.


Happy are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the Lord, the shield of your help, and the sword of your triumph! Your enemies shall come fawning to you, and you shall tread upon their backs.”


For what great nation is there that has a god so near to it as the Lord our God is to us, whenever we call upon him?
