So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with shouting and with the sound of the horn.


And David returned to bless his household. But Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David and said, “How the king of Israel honored himself today, uncovering himself today before the eyes of his servants’ female servants, as one of the vulgar fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!”


David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, as also were all the Levites who were carrying the ark, and the singers and Chenaniah the leader of the music of the singers. And David wore a linen ephod.


Let them praise his name with dancing, making melody to him with tambourine and lyre!


Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe!


You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness,


Singers and dancers alike say, “All my springs are in you.”


Then Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a tambourine in her hand, and all the women went out after her with tambourines and dancing.


And Miriam sang to them: “Sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea.”

Then the king said to Doeg, “You turn and strike the priests.” And Doeg the Edomite turned and struck down the priests, and he killed on that day eighty-five persons who wore the linen ephod.
