I will make your offspring as the dust of the earth, so that if one can count the dust of the earth, your offspring also can be counted.


And he brought him outside and said, “Look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you are able to number them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”


I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of his enemies,


But you said, ‘I will surely do you good, and make your offspring as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.’”


And your servant is in the midst of your people whom you have chosen, a great people, too many to be numbered or counted for multitude.


And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding beyond measure, and breadth of mind like the sand on the seashore,


My servants shall bring it down to the sea from Lebanon, and I will make it into rafts to go by sea to the place you direct. And I will have them broken up there, and you shall receive it. And you shall meet my wishes by providing food for my household.”


Do not listen to Hezekiah, for thus says the king of Assyria: ‘Make your peace with me and come out to me. Then each one of you will eat of his own vine, and each one of his own fig tree, and each one of you will drink the water of his own cistern,


And they were there with David for three days, eating and drinking, for their brothers had made preparation for them.


Behold, a son shall be born to you who shall be a man of rest. I will give him rest from all his surrounding enemies. For his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quiet to Israel in his days.


While he was yet speaking, there came another and said, “Your sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house,


In a multitude of people is the glory of a king, but without people a prince is ruined.


There is nothing better for a person than that he should eat and drink and find enjoyment in his toil. This also, I saw, is from the hand of God,


and behold, joy and gladness, killing oxen and slaughtering sheep, eating flesh and drinking wine. “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.”


but they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree, and no one shall make them afraid, for the mouth of the Lord of hosts has spoken.


In that day, declares the Lord of hosts, every one of you will invite his neighbor to come under his vine and under his fig tree.”


The Lord of hosts will protect them, and they shall devour, and tread down the sling stones, and they shall drink and roar as if drunk with wine, and be full like a bowl, drenched like the corners of the altar.


And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts,


And when he had taken him down, behold, they were spread abroad over all the land, eating and drinking and dancing, because of all the great spoil they had taken from the land of the Philistines and from the land of Judah.
