If a person gets money by doing bad things, then that money is worthless. But doing good can save you from death.


On the day God judges people, money is worth nothing. But goodness will save people from death.


The Lord has stretched his arm over the sea.\par The Lord is gathering kingdoms\par to fight against Tyre.\par The Lord commands Canaan {\cf2\super [224]} \par to destroy \{Tyre\},\par her place of safety.\par


They will sing this sad song about you:


Your business brought you \{many riches\}.\par But they also put cruelty inside you.\par And you sinned.\par So I treated you like you were some\par unclean thing—\par I threw you off the mountain of God.\par You were one of the special Cherub angels—\par \{Your wings\} spread over \{my throne\}.\par But I forced you to leave the jewels\par that sparkled like fire.\par


You did many wrong things.\par You were a very crooked businessman.\par In this way, you made the holy places unclean.\par So I brought fire from inside you.\par It burned you!\par You burned to ashes on the ground.\par Now everyone can see your shame.\par

They will bring you down to the grave.\par You will be like a sailor that died at sea.\par


I will sell your sons and daughters to the people of Judah. Then they will sell them to the faraway Sabean people.” The Lord said those things.


So I will start a fire at the walls of Tyre. That fire will destroy the high towers in Tyre.”


“The people in Ashkelon will see those things and they will be afraid. The people of Gaza will shake with fear. And the people of Ekron will lose all hope when they see those things happen. There will be no king left in Gaza. No person will live in Ashkelon any more.
