That night, he and his men made a surprise attack against the enemy. They defeated the enemy and chased them to Hobah, north of Damascus.


Our God, punish those people! We have no power against this large army that is coming against us! We don’t know what to do! That is why we look to you for help!” {\cf2\super [229]}


Lord, all living things look to you\par for their food.\par And you give them their food\par at the right time.\par

God showed Isaiah son of Amoz this sad message about Babylon.


The Lord will show his holy strength\par to all the nations.\par All the faraway countries will see\par how God saves his people.\par


Lord, you are my strength\par and my protection.\par You are a safe place to run to\par in time of trouble.\par The nations will come to you\par from all around the world.\par They will say,\par “Our fathers had false gods.\par They worshiped those worthless idols,\par but those idols did not help them at all.”\par


You plan and do great things, Lord. You see everything that people do. You give reward to people that do good things and you punish people that do bad things—you give them what they deserve.


The Lord says these things: “I will definitely punish \{the people of\} Tyre {\cf2\super [18]} for the many crimes they did. {\cf2\super [19]} Why? Because they took an entire nation and sent them as slaves to Edom. {\cf2\super [20]} They did not remember the agreement they had made with their brothers (Israel).

The Lord All-Powerful says: I will send that scroll to the houses of thieves and to houses of people that lie when they use my name to make promises. That scroll will stay there and destroy those houses. Even the stones and wooden posts will be destroyed.”
