During Solomon’s life all of the people in Judah and Israel, all the way from Dan to Beersheba, lived in peace and security. The people were at peace sitting under their own fig trees and grape vines.


“The Lord made a promise to my father David. The Lord said, ‘I will make your son king after you. And your son will build a temple to honor me.’ Now, I plan to build that temple to honor the Lord my God.


My people will live in the beautiful field of peace. My people will live in tents of safety. They will live in calm and peaceful places.


Don’t listen to those words from Hezekiah. Listen to the king of Assyria. The king of Assyria says, “We should make an agreement. You people should come out of the city to me. Then every person will be free to go home. Every person will be free to eat grapes from his own vine. And every person will be free to eat the figs from his own fig tree. Every person will be free to drink water from his own well.


The Lord All-Powerful, the God of Israel, says: ‘In the future, my people will once again buy houses, fields, and vineyards in the land of Israel.’”


“At that time, I will make an agreement for the Israelites with the animals of the field, with the birds of the sky, and with the crawling things on the ground. I will break the bow, the sword, and weapons of war. \{No weapons will be left\} in that land. I will make the land safe, so the people of Israel can lie down in peace.


Each person will sit under his own grapevine and fig tree.\par No person will make \{them\} afraid!\par Why? Because the Lord All-Powerful\par said it would happen like that!\par


At that time, people from many nations\par will come to me.\par They will become my people.\par And I will live in your city.”\par And then you will know\par that the Lord All-Powerful sent me.\par
