The Lord said to him: “I heard your prayer. I heard the things that you asked me to do. You built this temple. And I have made it a holy place. So I will be honored there forever. I will watch over it and think of it always.


Isaiah son of Amoz sent this message to Hezekiah. He said, “The Lord God of Israel says this, ‘You have prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria. I have heard you.’


“Go back and speak to Hezekiah, the leader of my people. Tell him, ‘The Lord, the God of your ancestor [244] David says: I have heard your prayer and I have seen your tears. So I will heal you. On the third day, you will go up to the temple of the Lord.


I am guilty of doing bad things.\par And that guilt is like a heavy weight.\par \{I am too ashamed\} to hold my head up.\par


Evil people have gathered around me.\par They are too many to count!\par My sins have caught me,\par and I can’t escape them.\par They are more than the hairs on my head.\par I have lost my courage.\par


Use the hyssop plant and do the ceremony\par to make me pure.\par Wash me until I am whiter than snow!\par


Our God and Savior, help us!\par Help us! Save us!\par That will bring glory to your name.\par Erase our sins for the good of your name.\par


The Seraph angel touched my mouth with the hot coal. Then the angel said, “Look! Because this hot coal touched your lips the wrong things you have done are gone from you. Your sins are now erased.”

Our sinful selves want things that are against the Spirit. The Spirit wants things that are against our sinful selves. These two different things are against each other. So you don’t do the things you really want to do.


So surely the blood of Christ can do much, much more. Christ offered himself through the eternal Spirit {\cf2\super [106]} as a perfect sacrifice {\cf2\super [107]} to God. His blood will make us fully clean from the evil things we have done. His blood will make us pure even in our hearts. We are made pure so that we can worship (serve) the living God.


and from Jesus Christ. Jesus is the faithful witness. He was first among those to be raised from death. Jesus is the ruler of the kings of the earth.
