Then after the lightning flashes,\par God’s roaring voice can be heard.\par God thunders with his wonderful voice!\par While the lightning flashes,\par God’s voice thunders.\par


God’s thundering voice is wonderful!\par He does great things\par that we can’t understand.\par


Can you give a command to the lightning?\par Will it come to you and say,\par ‘Here we are.\par What do you want, sir?’\par Will it go wherever you want it to go?\par


God All-Powerful’s arrows are in me.\par My spirit feels the poison\par from those arrows!\par God’s terrible weapons are lined up\par against me.\par


Lord, send the lightning\par and make my enemies run away.\par Shoot your “arrows”\par and make them run away.\par

The Lord will cause all people to hear his great voice. The Lord will cause all people to see his powerful arm come down with anger. That arm will be like a great fire that burns everything. The Lord’s power will be like a great storm with much rain and hail.


The Lord calls loudly to his army.\par His camp is very large.\par That army obeys his commands.\par That army is very powerful.\par The Lord’s special day\par is a great and terrible day.\par No person can stop it.\par


The sun and the moon lost their brightness.\par They stopped shining when they saw\par your bright flashes of lightning.\par That lightning was like spears and arrows\par shooting through the air.\par


“God brought those people out of Egypt. They are as strong as a wild ox. They will defeat all their enemies. They will break their bones and shatter their arrows.


“‘I will bring troubles to the Israelites. I will shoot all my arrows at them.


My enemies will be killed and taken as prisoners. My arrows will be covered with their blood. My sword will cut off the heads of their soldiers.’


The Lord caused those armies to be very confused when Israel attacked. So Israel defeated them and won a great victory. Israel chased the enemy from Gibeon on the road going to Beth Horon. The army of Israel killed men all the way to Azekah and Makkedah.


The Lord destroys his enemies. God Most-High will thunder in heaven against people. The Lord will judge even the faraway lands. He will give power to his king. He will make his special king strong.”
