Are your arms as strong as God’s arm?\par Do you have a voice like God’s voice\par that can sound loud like thunder?\par


But you gave the command,\par and the water rushed away.\par God, you shouted at the water,\par and the water rushed away.\par


He will make hot coals and burning\par sulphur fall like rain on those bad people.\par Those bad people will get nothing but\par a hot, burning wind. {\cf2\super [63]} \par


Pour burning coals on their heads.\par Throw my enemies into the fire.\par Throw them into the pit (grave)\par that they will never climb out of.\par


God killed their animals with hail,\par and their cattle with lightning.\par


During all this time, the people in the valley heard the thundering and saw the lightning on the mountain. They saw smoke rising from the mountain. The people were afraid, and they shook with fear. They stood away from the mountain and watched.


The hail was falling. And there was lightning flashing all through it. It was the worst hailstorm that had ever hit Egypt since it had been a nation.


The noise from the wings of the Cherub angels could be heard all the way out in the outer courtyard. The sound was very loud—like the thundering voice when God All-Powerful speaks.


The sickness went before him.\par And the destroyer followed behind him. {\cf2\super [16]} \par


The people standing there heard the voice. Those people said it was thunder.


They will become thin from hunger. Terrible diseases will destroy them. I will send wild animals against them. Poisonous snakes and lizards will bite them.


Then the army of Israel chased the enemy down the road from Beth Horon to Azekah. While they were chasing the enemy, the Lord caused large hailstones to fall from the sky. Many of the enemy were killed by these large hailstones. More men were killed by the hailstones than by the swords of the soldiers of Israel.


Then I heard something that sounded like many, many people. It sounded like the noise of flooding water and like loud thunder. The people were saying:


Lightning flashes and noises of thunder came from the throne. Before the throne there were seven lamps burning. These lamps are the seven Spirits of God.


Then the angel filled the incense holder with fire from the altar. The angel threw the incense holder on the earth. Then there were flashes of lightning, thunder and other noises, and an earthquake.


While Samuel was burning the sacrifice, the Philistines came to fight Israel. But the Lord caused loud thunder near the Philistines. This confused the Philistines. The thunder scared the Philistines, and they became confused. {Their leaders were not able to control them.} So the Israelites defeated the Philistines in battle.
