Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What have you done?”


My life is in danger.\par My enemies are all around me.\par They are like man-eating lions,\par with teeth as sharp as spears\par and arrows,\par and tongues as sharp as a sword.\par


Their anger is as dangerous\par as snake venom. {\cf2\super [341]} \par And, like cobras that can’t hear,\par they refuse to listen to the truth.\par


Listen to their threats and insults.\par They say such cruel things,\par and they don’t care who hears them.\par


If a person speaks words without thinking, then those words can hurt like a sword. But a wise person is careful with the things he says. His words can heal those hurts.


But in the end it bites like a snake.


That person is a troublemaker. He is always planning to do something bad. He makes trouble everywhere.


We sinned and turned against the Lord.\par We turned away from him and left him.\par We planned evil things.\par We planned things that are against God.\par We have thought of these things\par and planned them in our hearts.\par


“Those people use their tongues like a bow;\par lies fly from their mouths like arrows.\par Lies, not truth, have grown strong in this land.\par Those people go from one sin to another.\par They don’t know me.”\par The Lord said these things.\par


Every person lies to his neighbor.\par No person speaks the truth.\par The people of Judah have taught\par their tongues to lie.\par They sinned until they were too tired\par to come back.\par


The words and the thoughts of\par my enemies\par are against me all the time—\par


You snakes! You are evil people! How can you say anything good? The mouth speaks the things that are in the heart.


But I am afraid that your minds will be led away from your true and pure following of Christ. This might happen the same as Eve was tricked (fooled) by the snake (the devil) with his evil ways.
