Melchizedek, the king of Salem, also went to meet Abram. Melchizedek was a priest of God Most High. Melchizedek brought bread and wine.


The Lord made a promise to David.\par The Lord promised to be loyal to David.\par The Lord promised that the kings would come from David’s family.\par


He will build the Lord’s temple,\par and he will receive the honor.\par He will sit on his throne\par and be the ruler.\par And a priest will stand by his throne.\par These two men will work together in peace.\par


God is not a man; he will not lie. God is not a human being; his decisions will not change. If the Lord says he will do something, then he will do it. If the Lord makes a promise, then he will do the thing he promised.


And in another part \{of the Scriptures {\cf2\super [40]} \} God says,


Jesus has already entered there and opened the way for us. Jesus has become the high priest {\cf2\super [52]} forever, the same as Melchizedek. {\cf2\super [53]}


People were given the law {\cf2\super [62]} under the system of priests from the Levi family group. {\cf2\super [63]} But people could not be made spiritually perfect through that system of priests. So there was a need for another priest to come. I mean a priest that is like Melchizedek, {\cf2\super [64]} not Aaron. {\cf2\super [65]}


\{The Scriptures {\cf2\super [69]} \} say this about him: “You are a priest forever—the kind of priest Melchizedek was.” {\cf2\super [70]}


But Christ became a priest with God’s vow. God said to him:


The law chooses high priests who are people and have the same weaknesses as people. But God made a promise that came after the law. God spoke those words with a vow (promise), and those words made the Son of God to be the high priest. And that Son has been made perfect forever.


Jesus made us to be a kingdom. He made us to be priests who serve God his Father. To Jesus be glory and power forever and ever! Amen. {\cf2\super [3]}
