The men from Anathoth were planning to kill Jeremiah. Those men said to Jeremiah, “Don’t prophesy {\cf2\super [100]} in the name of the Lord, or we will kill you.” The Lord made a decision about those men from Anathoth.


These men are your own brothers.\par Members of your own family\par are making plans against you.\par People from your own family\par are yelling at you.\par Don’t trust them,\par even when they speak to you like friends.”\par


And the people refused to accept Jesus.


Jesus left there and went back to his home town. His followers went with him.


Then Jesus said, “I tell you the truth. A prophet {\cf2\super [73]} is not accepted in his own home town.


(Jesus had said before that a prophet {\cf2\super [69]} is not respected in his own country.)
