20 Remember the lesson I told you: A servant is not greater than his master. If people did wrong to me, then they will do wrong to you too. And if people obeyed my teaching, then they will obey yours too.

No! I am sending you to the family of Israel. Only, these people have hard heads—they are very stubborn! And the people of Israel will refuse to listen to you. They don’t want to listen to me!


“A student is not better than his teacher. A servant is not better than his master.


The sons answered, “Yes, we can!”


Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, “Many Jews will fall and many will rise because of this boy. He will be a sign (proof) from God that some people will not accept.


A student is not better than his teacher. But when the student has fully learned, then he will be like his teacher.


Again the Jews there picked up rocks to kill Jesus.


But the leading priests and the Pharisees {\cf2\super [188]} had given a special order about Jesus. They said that if any person knew where Jesus was, the person must tell them. Then the leading priests and the Pharisees could arrest Jesus.


I tell you the truth. A servant is not greater than his master. The person that is sent to do something is not greater than the one that sent him.


Jesus was doing these things (healing) on the Sabbath day. {\cf2\super [79]} So the Jews began to do bad things to Jesus.


The Pharisees {\cf2\super [113]} heard these things the people were saying about Jesus. So the leading priests and the Pharisees sent some temple police to arrest Jesus.


I tell you the truth. If a person continues to obey my teaching, then that person will never die.”


The Jews said to Jesus, “Now we know that you have a demon {\cf2\super [143]} in you! Even Abraham {\cf2\super [144]} and the prophets {\cf2\super [145]} died. But you say, ‘The person that obeys my teaching will never die.’


When Jesus said this, the people picked up rocks to throw at him. But Jesus hid, and then he left the temple {\cf2\super [151]} area.


In those cities Paul and Barnabas made the followers \{of Jesus\} stronger. They helped them to stay in the faith. Paul and Barnabas said, “We must suffer many things on our way into God’s kingdom.”


We work hard with our own hands \{to feed ourselves\}. People curse us, but we speak a blessing for them. People persecute {\cf2\super [26]} us, and we accept it.


We are persecuted, but God does not leave us. We are hurt sometimes, but we are not destroyed.


Those Jews killed the Lord Jesus. And they killed the prophets. {\cf2\super [9]} And those Jews forced us to leave that country (Judea). God is not pleased with them. They are against all people.


Every person who wants to live the way God wants, in Christ Jesus, will be persecuted.


The Lord told Samuel, “Do what the people tell you. They have not rejected you. They have rejected me! They don’t want me to be their king!
