At that time, the Lord’s plant (Judah) will be very beautiful and great. The people still living in Israel will be very proud of the things the land grows.


“All of your people will be good.\par Those people will get the earth forever.\par I made those people.\par They are the wonderful plant\par that I made with my own hands.\par


God sent me to the sad people of Zion. \{I will get them ready for the celebration.\} I will take away the ashes on their head, and I will give them a crown. I will take away their sadness, and I will give them the oil of happiness. I will take away their sorrow, and I will give them celebration clothes. God sent me to name those people ‘Good Trees’ and ‘The Lord’s Wonderful Plant.’


Many shepherds (leaders) have ruined\par my field of grapes.\par Those shepherds have walked\par on the plants in my field.\par Those shepherds have made my beautiful field\par into an empty desert.\par


Judah, I planted you like a special vine.\par All of you were like good seed.\par How did you turn into a different vine that grows bad fruit?\par


“‘Your mother is like a grapevine\par planted near the water.\par She had plenty of water,\par so she grew many strong vines.\par


Israel is like a vine that grows plenty of fruit.\par But as Israel got more and more \{things\}\par he built more and more altars\par \{to honor false gods\}.\par His land became better and better,\par so he put up better and better stones\par \{to honor false gods\}.\par


Listen to me High Priest Joshua and\par your fellow priests seated before you.\par These men are examples\par that show what will happen\par when I bring my special servant.\par He is called, THE BRANCH.\par


Jesus answered, “Every plant that my Father in heaven has not planted himself will be pulled up by the roots.


“The kingdom of heaven is like a man that owned some land. The man grew grapes on his land. One morning, the man went out very early to hire some other people to work in his field.


“Listen to this story: There was a man that owned a vineyard. He put a wall around the field and dug a hole for a wine press. {\cf2\super [299]} Then the man built a tower. He leased the land to some farmers. Then he left for a trip.

Jesus told this story: “A man had a fig tree. He planted the tree in his garden. The man came looking for some fruit on the tree, but he found none.


The law was given through Moses. But grace and \{the way of\} truth came through Jesus Christ.


The true Light was coming into the world. This is the true Light that gives light to all people.


He cuts off every branch {\cf2\super [217]} of mine that does not make fruit. {\cf2\super [218]} And he trims and cleans every branch that makes fruit, so that it will make even more fruit.


Jesus said, “I tell you the truth. Moses was not the one that gave your people bread from heaven. But my Father gives you the true bread from heaven.


My body is true food. My blood is true drink.


\{It is like\} some of the branches from an olive tree have been broken off, and the branch of a wild olive tree has been joined to that first tree. You non-Jews are the same as that wild branch, and you now share the strength and life of the first tree (the Jews).


We are workers together for God. And you are like a farm that belongs to God.


But also I write this command to you as a new command. This command is true; you can see its truth in Jesus and in yourselves. The darkness (sin) is passing away and the true light is already shining.
