Lord, our ancestors in Egypt learned nothing\par from the miracles you did.\par There by the Red Sea,\par our ancestors turned against you.\par


“They {\cf2\super [475]} don’t know what is happening.\par They don’t understand!\par They don’t know what they are doing,\par Their world is falling down around them!”\par


Evil people don’t understand fairness. But people who love the Lord understand it.


They are like hungry dogs.\par They are never satisfied.\par The shepherds don’t know\par what they are doing.\par \{They are like their sheep\}\par that have all wandered away.\par They are greedy.\par All they want to do is satisfy themselves.\par


Many people will be made pure—they will make themselves clean. {\cf2\super [138]} But evil people will continue to be evil. And those wicked people will not understand these things. But the wise people will understand these things.


Jesus used stories to tell all these things to the people. Jesus always used stories to teach the people.


\{Then Jesus asked his followers,\} “Do you understand all these things?”


Jesus always used stories to teach the people. But when Jesus and his followers were alone together, Jesus explained everything to them.


“I have told you these things, using words that hide the meaning. But the time will come when I will not use words like that to tell you things. I will speak to you in plain words about the Father.


Then the followers of Jesus said, “You are speaking clearly to us now. You are not using words that are hard to understand.


Then the Jews began to argue among themselves. They said, “How can this man give us his body to eat?”


The followers of Jesus heard this. Many of the followers said, “This teaching is hard \{to accept\}. Who can accept this teaching?”


This man (Jesus) says, ‘You will look for me but you will not find me.’ He also says, ‘You cannot come where I am.’ What does this mean?”


These Jews did not understand who Jesus was talking about. Jesus was telling them about the Father (God).


You don’t understand these things I say. Why? Because you cannot accept my teaching.


A person that is not spiritual does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God. That person thinks that those things are foolish. That person cannot understand the things of the Spirit, because those things can only be judged spiritually.


What those people did is like this true saying: “When a dog vomits (throws up), he comes back to his vomit.” {\cf2\super [10]} And, “After a pig is washed, the pig goes back and rolls in the mud again.”


But, dear friends, use your most holy faith to build yourselves up strong. Pray with the Holy Spirit. {\cf2\super [10]}
