“Sir, listen to me. 10 pounds [129] of silver means nothing to you and me! Take the land, and bury your dead wife.”


After the camels finished drinking, he gave Rebekah a gold ring that weighed 1/4 ounce. [134] He also gave her two gold arm bracelets that weighed 5 ounces [135] each.


All of Solomon’s cups and glasses were made of gold. And all of the dishes [138] in the building called the “Forest of Lebanon” were made from pure gold. Nothing in the palace was made from silver. {There was so much gold that} in Solomon’s time people did not think silver was important!


Men will clap their hands\par as the evil person runs away.\par They will whistle at that evil person\par


Men dig iron from the ground.\par Copper is melted from the rocks.\par


The Lord’s words are true and pure\par like silver melted in a hot fire.\par They are pure like silver that was melted and made pure seven times.\par


Gold and silver are put into fire to make them pure. But the Lord is the One who makes peoples’ hearts pure.


People use fire to make gold and silver pure. In the same way, a man is tested by the praise people give him.


“Look, I will make you pure.\par People use a hot fire to make silver pure.\par But I will make you pure\par by giving you troubles.\par


Then I will test those survivors. I will give them many troubles. The troubles will be like the fire a man uses to prove silver is pure. I will test them the way a person tests gold. Then they will call to me for help, and I will answer them. I will say, ‘You are my people.’ And they will say, ‘The Lord is my God.’”


Why do these troubles happen? To prove that your faith is pure (true). This purity of faith is worth more than gold. Gold can be proved to be pure by fire, but gold will ruin. The purity of your faith will bring you praise and glory and honor when Jesus Christ appears (comes).
