If I have any success and feel proud,\par you hunt me like a person hunts a lion.\par You again show your power against me.\par


You always have someone\par to prove I am wrong.\par Your will show your anger at me\par again and again in many ways,\par as you send one army after another\par against me.\par


I will say to God:\par ‘Don’t blame me!\par Tell me,\par What have I done wrong?\par What do you have against me?\par


“God attacks me,\par he is angry at me\par and tears my body apart.\par God grinds his teeth against me.\par My enemy looks at me with hate.\par


God’s anger burns against me.\par He calls me his enemy.\par


Why do you persecute me like God does?\par Don’t you get tired of hurting me?\par


God, you are mean to me.\par You use your power to hurt me.\par


“Oh, I wish someone would listen to me!\par Let me explain my side.\par I wish God All-Powerful\par would answer me.\par I wish he would write down\par what he thinks I did wrong.\par


I did nothing wrong,\par but God is against me!\par God treated me like an enemy.\par


Lord, why do you stay so far away?\par People with troubles can’t see you.\par


How long will you forget me, Lord?\par Will you forget me forever?\par How long will you refuse to accept me? {\cf2\super [72]} \par


God, why are you hiding from us?\par Have you forgotten our pain and troubles?\par


We have been pushed down into the dirt.\par We are lying with our belly in the dust. {\cf2\super [269]} \par


Lord, why have you abandoned me?\par Why do you refuse to listen to me?\par


The Lord has become like an enemy.\par He has swallowed up Israel.\par He has swallowed up all her palaces.\par He has swallowed up all her fortresses.\par He has made much sadness\par and crying for the dead\par in the Daughter of Judah. {\cf2\super [12]} \par


So the Lord said, ‘I will turn away from them, then let’s see what happens! They are a rebellious people. They are like children who won’t learn their lessons!


But don’t treat them like an enemy—counsel them like a brother.
