The bad things that happened to us are our own fault. We have done evil things, and we have much guilt. But you, our God, have punished us much less than we should have been. We have done many terrible sins, and we should have been punished worse. And you have even let some of our people escape captivity.


Job, I wish God would answer you\par and tell you that you are wrong.\par


But wisdom and power belong to God.\par Good advice and understanding are his.\par


God tries to comfort you,\par but that is not enough for you.\par We have spoken God’s message to you\par in a gentle way.\par


The things you say\par clearly show your sin.\par Job, you are trying to hide your sin\par by using clever words.\par


Did you listen to God’s secret plans?\par Do you think you are the only wise person?\par


No, it is because you have sinned much.\par Job, you never stop sinning!\par


And God said to people,\par “Fear and respect the Lord—\par that is wisdom.\par Don’t do evil things—\par that is understanding.”\par


“But Job, you are wrong about this.\par And I will prove you are wrong.\par Why? Because God knows more\par than any person. {\cf2\super [70]} \par


God is very wise\par and his power is very great.\par No person can fight God and not be hurt.\par


We sinned against God\par but he didn’t give us\par the punishment we deserved.\par


The Lord tells his secrets to his followers.\par He teaches his Agreement {\cf2\super [153]} to them.\par


The Lord’s love and kindness never ends. {\cf2\super [22]} \par His compassion never ends.\par


But there is a God in heaven who tells secret things. God gave King Nebuchadnezzar dreams to show him what will happen at a later time. This was your dream, and these are the things you saw while lying on your bed:


Then the king said to Daniel, “I know for sure your God is the most important and powerful God. And he is the Lord of all the kings. He tells people about things they can’t know. I know this is true because you were able to tell these secret things to me.”


This is the same as what the prophet {\cf2\super [185]} said:


People who lived in other times were not told that secret truth. But now, through the Spirit, {\cf2\super [20]} God has shown that secret truth to his holy apostles {\cf2\super [21]} and prophets. {\cf2\super [22]}


“There are some things that the Lord our God has kept secret. Only he knows those things. But the Lord told us about some things. And those teachings are for us and our descendants [195] forever! And we must obey all the commands in that law.
