Man is like a slave who wants the\par cool shade after hard work on a hot day.\par Man is like a hired worker\par waiting for payday.\par


Many women will lose their husbands.\par There will be more widows\par than there is sand in the sea.\par I will bring a destroyer at noontime.\par The destroyer will attack the mothers\par of the young men of Judah.\par I will bring pain and fear\par on the people of Judah.\par I will make this happen very quickly.\par


The enemy will attack with swords\par and kill the people.\par They will kill the survivors {\cf2\super [129]} from Judah.\par A woman might have seven sons,\par \{but they will all die.\}\par She will cry and cry\par until she becomes weak\par and not able to breathe.\par She will be upset and confused.\par Her bright day will become dark from sadness.”\par


“Go along the rows of Judah’s grapevines.\par Cut down the vines.\par (But don’t completely destroy them.)\par Cut off all their branches.\par Why? Because they don’t belong to the Lord.\par


The soldiers carry bows and spears.\par They are cruel.\par They have no mercy.\par They are so powerful.\par They sound like the roaring ocean\par as they ride their horses.\par That army is coming ready for battle.\par That army is coming to attack you,\par Daughter of Zion.” {\cf2\super [46]} \par

Announce this among the nations:\par Prepare for war!\par Wake up the strong men!\par Let all the men of war come near.\par Let them come up!\par


Some false prophets are telling lies to the Lord’s people. The Lord says this about those prophets:


No one will be left in Gaza {\cf2\super [10]} . Ashkelon {\cf2\super [11]} will be destroyed. By noon, the people will be forced to leave Ashdod {\cf2\super [12]} . Ekron {\cf2\super [13]} will be empty! {\cf2\super [14]}
