The Lord said, “I will change Babylon. That place will be for animals, {\cf2\super [152]} \{not people\}. That place will be a swamp. I will use the ‘broom of destruction’ to sweep Babylon away.” The Lord All-Powerful said those things.


“But when the 70 years have passed, I will punish the king of Babylon. I will punish the nation of Babylon.” This message is from the Lord. “I will punish the land of the Babylonians for their sins. I will make that land a desert forever.


A nation from the north will attack Babylon.\par That nation will make Babylon\par like an empty desert.\par No people will live there.\par Both men and animals\par will run away from there.”\par


People will not take any rocks from Babylon\par to use for the foundation of a building.\par People will not find any rocks\par big enough for cornerstones.\par Why? Because your city will be\par a pile of broken rocks forever.”\par The Lord said these things.\par


Babylon will be like a dry, desert land.\par Its cities will be empty ruins.\par No people will live in those cities.\par No people will even travel through them.\par
