During Josiah’s time, Pharaoh Neco, the king of Egypt went to fight against the king of Assyria at the Euphrates River. Josiah went out to meet Neco at Megiddo. Pharaoh saw Josiah and killed him.


The king of Babylon captured all the land between the Brook of Egypt and the Euphrates River. This land was previously controlled by Egypt. So the king of Egypt did not leave Egypt any more.


Evil people might attack me.\par They might try to destroy my body.\par My enemies might try to attack\par and destroy me.\par


I also saw other things in this life {\cf2\super [36]} that were not fair: The fastest runner does not always win the race; the strongest army does not always win the battle; the wisest man does not always get the food he earns; the smartest man does not always get the wealth; and an educated person does not always get the praise he deserves. When the time comes, bad things happen to everyone!


(Many people will fall over this rock. Those people will fall and be broken. They will be trapped and caught.)


The Lord said to me,\par “Something terrible will come\par from the north.\par It will happen to all the people\par that live in this country.\par


But the Lord is with me.\par The Lord is like a strong soldier.\par So the people that are chasing me will fall.\par Those people will not defeat me.\par Those people will fail.\par They will be disappointed.\par Those people will be ashamed.\par And people will never forget that shame.\par


So I will soon send for all the family groups of the north. {\cf2\super [202]} ” This message is from the Lord. “I will soon send for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. He is my servant. I will bring those people against the land of Judah and against the people of Judah. I will bring them against all the nations around you too. I will destroy all of those countries. I will make those lands like an empty desert forever. People will see those countries, and whistle at how badly they were destroyed.


Raise the signal flag toward Zion. {\cf2\super [21]} \par Run for your lives!\par Don’t wait!\par Do this because I am bringing disaster from the north. {\cf2\super [22]} \par I am bringing terrible destruction.”\par


“But at that time, our Master,\par the Lord All-Powerful, will win.\par At that time, he will give the punishment\par that they deserve.\par The Lord’s enemies will get the punishment\par that they should have.\par The sword will kill until it is finished.\par The sword will kill until it satisfies\par its thirst for blood.\par This will happen because there is a sacrifice\par for our Master, the Lord All-Powerful.\par That sacrifice is \{Egypt’s army\}\par in the land of the north,\par by the Euphrates River.\par


The nations will hear you crying.\par Your cries will be heard all over the earth.\par One ‘brave soldier’ will run into another\par ‘brave soldier.’\par And both ‘brave soldiers’\par will fall down together.”\par


Those soldiers will stumble again and again.\par They will fall over each other.\par They will say,\par ‘Get up, let us go back to our own people.\par Let us go back to our homeland.\par Our enemy is defeating us.\par We must get away.’\par


Proud Babylon will stumble and fall.\par And no person will help her get up.\par I will start a fire in her towns.\par That fire will completely burn\par everyone around her.”\par


Run for your lives, people of Benjamin!\par Run away from the city of Jerusalem!\par Blow the war trumpet in the city of Tekoa!\par Put up the warning flag\par in the city of Beth Hakkerem!\par Do these things because disaster is coming from the north. {\cf2\super [37]} \par Terrible destruction is coming to you.\par


“‘After that happens, that northern king will go back to the strong forts of his own country. But he will be weak, and he will fall. He will be finished.


He will defeat large and powerful armies. He will even defeat the Leader with the Agreement.
