Jeremiah 25:3 - Easy To Read Version

3 I have given you messages from the Lord again and again for these past 23 years. I have been a prophet since the 13th year that Josiah son of Amon was the king of Judah. I have spoken messages from the Lord to you from that time until today. But you have not listened.

In the morning Abraham got up and saddled his donkey. Abraham took Isaac and two servants with him. Abraham cut the wood for the sacrifice. [119] Then they went to the place God told them to go.


At this same time, Ahab asked his officials, “Remember that the king of Aram took Ramoth in Gilead from us? Why have we done nothing to get Ramoth back? It should be our town.”


The Lord used every prophet and every seer [205] to warn Israel and Judah. The Lord said, “Turn away from the evil things you do! Obey my commands and laws. Follow all the Law that I gave to your ancestors. [206] I used my servants the prophets to give this law to you.”


God sent prophets to the people to bring them back to the Lord. The prophets warned the people. But the people refused to listen.


Josiah was eight years old when he became king. He was king for 31 years in Jerusalem.


When Josiah was in his eighth year as king, he began to follow the God that David his ancestor followed. Josiah was still young when he began to obey God. When Josiah was in his twelfth year as king he began to destroy the high places {\cf2\super [421]} , the Asherah Poles, {\cf2\super [422]} and idols that were carved and idols that were made from molds from Judah and Jerusalem.


When Josiah was in his 18th year as king of Judah he sent Shaphan, Maaseiah, and Joah to build again and fix the temple {\cf2\super [426]} of the Lord his God. Shaphan’s father’s name was Azaliah. Maaseiah was the city leader, and Joah’s father’s name was Jehoahaz. Joah was the man that wrote about the things that happened.


The Lord, the God of their ancestors, {\cf2\super [454]} sent prophets again and again to warn his people. The Lord did this because he felt sorry for them and for his temple. The Lord didn’t want to destroy them or his temple.


If my people would listen to me\par and live the way I want,\par


The Lord said to Moses, “Get up in the morning and go to Pharaoh. Pharaoh will go out to the river. Tell him that the Lord says, ‘Let my people go and worship me!


Why waste your money on something\par that is not real food?\par Why should you work for something\par that does not really satisfy you?\par Listen very closely to me,\par and you will eat the good food.\par You will enjoy the food\par that satisfies your soul.\par


The Lord began to speak to Jeremiah during the days when Josiah was king of the nation of Judah. Josiah was the son of a man named Amon. The Lord began to speak to Jeremiah in the 13th year that Josiah was king. {\cf2\super [2]}


I gave a warning to your ancestors {\cf2\super [92]} at the time I brought them out of the land of Egypt. I warned them again and again to this very day. I told them to obey me.


“This is what the Lord All-Powerful, the God of Israel says: ‘I said I would bring many disasters to Jerusalem and the villages around it. I will soon make those things happen. Why? Because the people are very stubborn—they refused to listen and obey me.’”


Judah, you felt safe.\par But I warned you!\par I warned you,\par but you refused to listen.\par You have lived like this\par from the time you were young.\par And from the time you were young,\par you have not obeyed me, Judah.\par


The Lord has sent his servants, the prophets, to you over and over again. But you have not listened to them. You have not paid any attention to them.


You must listen to the things my servants say to you. (The prophets are my servants.) I have sent prophets to you again and again, but you did not listen to them.


I will make all those things happen because those people of Jerusalem have not listened to my message.” This message is from the Lord. “I sent my message to them again and again. I used my servants, the prophets, to give my messages to those people. But the people didn’t listen.” This message is from the Lord.


“Those people should have come to me for help. But they turned their backs to me. I tried to teach those people again and again. But they would not listen to me. I tried to correct them, but they would not listen.


“Jonadab son of Recab ordered his sons not to drink wine, and that command has been obeyed. Until today, the descendants {\cf2\super [296]} of Jonadab obeyed their ancestor’s {\cf2\super [297]} command. They don’t drink wine. But I am the Lord. And I have given you people of Judah messages again and again, but you didn’t obey me.


I sent my servants the prophets to you people of Israel and Judah. I sent them to you again and again. Those prophets said to you, ‘Each of you people of Israel and Judah must stop doing evil things. You must be good. Don’t follow other gods. Don’t worship or serve them. If you obey me, then you will live in the land I have given to you and your ancestors.’ But you people have not paid attention to my message.


The message from the Lord came to Jeremiah. This was during the fourth year that Jehoiakim son of Josiah was king of Judah. This was the message from the Lord:


“Jeremiah, get a scroll {\cf2\super [300]} and write on it all the messages I have spoken to you. I have spoken to you about the nations of Israel and Judah and all the nations. Write all the words that I have spoken to you from the time that Josiah was king, until now.


I sent my prophets to those people again and again. Those prophets were my servants. Those prophets spoke my message and said to the people, ‘Don’t do this terrible thing. I hate for you to worship idols.’


You people of Israel were doing all these evil things”—This message is from the Lord!—“I spoke to you again and again, but you refused to listen to me. I called to you, but you did not answer.


From the day that your ancestors left Egypt to this day, I have sent my servants to you. My servants are the prophets. I sent them to you again and again.


If people hear the warning but ignore it, then the enemy will capture them and take them away as prisoners. That person will be responsible for his own death.


The Lord said, “Don’t be like your ancestors. In the past, the prophets spoke to them. They said, ‘The Lord All-Powerful wants you to change your bad way of living. Stop doing bad things!’ But your ancestors did not listen to me.” The Lord said those things.


The next morning, Jesus woke up very early. Jesus left the house while it was still dark. He went to a place to be alone and pray.


Early in the morning Jesus went back to the temple {\cf2\super [128]} area. All the people came to Jesus. Jesus sat and taught the people.


The person that belongs to God accepts what God says. But you don’t accept what God says, because you don’t belong to God.”


Tell people God’s message. {\cf2\super [20]} Be ready at all times. Tell people the things they need to do, tell them when they are wrong, and encourage them. Do these things with great patience and careful teaching.
