So Jeremiah stayed under guard in the temple yard until the day Jerusalem was captured.


But Nebuchadnezzar gave some orders to Nebuzaradan about Jeremiah. Nebuzaradan was the commander of Nebuchadnezzar’s special guards. These were the orders:


Now you are afraid of the king of Babylon. But don’t be afraid of him. Don’t be afraid of the king of Babylon,’ this is the message of the Lord, ‘because I am with you. I will save you. I will rescue you. He will not get his hands on you.

If you throw us into the hot furnace, then the God we serve can save us. And if he wants to, he can save us from your power.


The Lord be with your spirit. Grace (kindness) be with you.
