Bad people have destroyed my people.\par And those bad people don’t know God.\par Bad people have plenty of food to eat. {\cf2\super [76]} \par And they don’t even worship the Lord.\par


God did not do this for any other nation.\par God did not teach his laws to other people.\par Praise the Lord!\par \par \par


Evil people might attack me.\par They might try to destroy my body.\par My enemies might try to attack\par and destroy me.\par


Let them feel all of your anger.\par


“Jacob, you did not pray to me. Why? Because you, Israel, have become tired of me.


We don’t worship you.\par We don’t trust in your name.\par We aren’t excited about following you.\par So you have turned away from us.\par We are helpless before you,\par because we are full of sin.\par


The Lord will bring the Arameans from the east and the Philistines from the west. Those enemies will defeat Israel with their armies. But the Lord will still be angry with Israel. The Lord will still be ready to punish the people.


This is the message that came to Jeremiah. This message came from the Lord:


Those nations destroyed you,\par but now they have been destroyed.\par Israel and Judah,\par your enemies will become captives. {\cf2\super [240]} \par Those people stole things from you.\par But other people will steal from them.\par Those people took things from you in war.\par But other people will take things\par from them in war.\par


“Israel is like a flock of sheep\par that were scattered all over the country.\par Israel is like sheep that were chased away\par by lions.\par The first lion to attack\par was the king of Assyria.\par The last lion to crush his bones\par was Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.\par


Whoever found my people hurt them.\par And those enemies said,\par ‘We did nothing wrong.’\par Those people sinned against the Lord.\par The Lord was their true resting place.\par The Lord was the God\par that their fathers trusted in.\par


From the land of the family group of Dan,\par we hear the snorting {\cf2\super [71]} \par of the enemy’s horses.\par The ground shakes from the pounding\par of their hooves. {\cf2\super [72]} \par They have come to destroy the land\par and everything in it.\par They have come to destroy the city\par and all the people that live there.\par


You invited terror to come to me\par from all around.\par You invited terror like you were inviting it\par to a holiday.\par No person escaped\par on the day of the Lord’s anger.\par My enemy has killed\par those that I raised and brought up.\par


Some people turned away from the Lord. They quit following me. Those people stopped asking the Lord for help. So I will remove those people from that place.”


The Lord said, “So just wait! Wait for me to stand and judge you. I have the right to bring people from many nations and use them to punish you. I will use those people to show my anger against you. I will use them to show how upset I am—and the whole country will be destroyed!


And I am very angry at the nations\par that feel so safe.\par I was a little angry,\par and I used those nations\par to punish my people.\par But those nations caused too much damage.”\par


Father, you are the One who is good. The world does not know you, but I know you. And these people know that you sent me.


I was going through your city and I saw the things you worship. I found an altar that had these words written on it: ‘TO the god who is not known.’ You worship a god that you don’t know. This is the God I am telling you about!


Come back to your right way of thinking and stop sinning. Some of you don’t know God. I say this to shame you.


Don’t let your physical desires control you. The people of the world who don’t know God do that.


He will come from heaven with burning fire to punish those people who don’t know God. He will punish those people who refuse to accept the Good News {\cf2\super [1]} about our Lord Jesus Christ.


Then I heard a loud voice from the temple. {\cf2\super [116]} The voice said to the seven angels, “Go and pour out the seven bowls of God’s anger on the earth.”
