If you had obeyed me,\par then you would have had many children.\par They would have been\par like the many grains of sand.\par If you had obeyed me,\par then you would not have been destroyed.\par You would have continued with me.”\par


\{“My servant,\} I will give you the words I want you to say. And I will cover you with my hands and protect you. I will use you to make the new heaven and earth. I will use you to tell Israel, ‘You are my people.’”


The Lord decided to crush him. The Lord decided that he must suffer, so the Servant gave himself to be the one to die. But he will live a new life for a long, long time. He will see his people. He will complete the things the Lord wants him to do.


The Lord says, “I will make an Agreement with those people. I promise, my Spirit and my words that I put in your mouth will never leave you. They will be with your children and your children’s children. They will be with you for now and forever.”


\{Why will this happen?\} Because I am the Lord and I love fairness. I hate stealing and everything that is wrong. So I will give the people the payment they should have. I will make an Agreement with my people forever.


Everyone in all nations will know my people. Everyone will know the children from my nation. Any person that sees them will know that the Lord blesses them.”


“I will make a new heaven and a new earth.\par People will not remember the past.\par They won’t remember any of those things.\par


Never again will\par one person build a house\par and another person live there.\par Never again will\par one person plant a garden\par and another person eat the fruit from it.\par


Women will never again suffer childbirth\par \{only to have the baby die\}.\par Women will never again be afraid\par of what might happen during childbirth.\par All my people and their children\par will be blessed by the Lord.\par


The Lord says, “I have an agreement with day and night. I agreed that they will continue forever. You can’t change that agreement. Day and night will always come at the right time. If you could change that agreement,


then you could change my Agreement with David and Levi. Then descendants {\cf2\super [280]} from David would not be the kings and the family of Levi would not be priests.


At that time, I will bring you back.\par I will bring you back together.\par I will make you famous.\par People everywhere will praise you.\par That will happen when I bring back the prisoners before your very own eyes!”\par The Lord said those things.\par


Teach those people to obey everything that I have told you. You can be sure that I will be with you always. I will continue with you until the end of the world.”


But God made a promise to us. And we are waiting for what he promised—a new sky and a new earth. That will be the place where goodness lives.


Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The first heaven and the first earth had disappeared. Now there was no sea.
