It is better to be happy with the things you have than to always want more and more. Always wanting more and more is useless. It is like trying to catch the wind. {\cf2\super [29]}

The nation of Israel is full of guilt. This guilt is like a heavy weight the people have to carry. Those people are like bad children from evil families. They left the Lord. They insulted the Holy One (God) of Israel. They left him and treated him like a stranger.

Your land has been filled with silver and gold from other places. There are many, many treasures there. Your land has been filled with horses. There are many, many chariots {\cf2\super [20]} there.

Who let people take the wealth from Jacob and Israel? The Lord allowed them to do this! We sinned against the Lord. So the Lord allowed people to take away our wealth. The people of Israel did not want to live the way the Lord wanted. The people of Israel did not listen to his teaching.

God, you are the God people can’t see.\par You are the Savior of Israel.\par

They are like hungry dogs.\par They are never satisfied.\par The shepherds don’t know\par what they are doing.\par \{They are like their sheep\}\par that have all wandered away.\par They are greedy.\par All they want to do is satisfy themselves.\par

Lord, don’t continue to be angry with us!\par Don’t remember our sins forever!\par Please, look at us!\par We are your people.\par

Some people kill bulls \{as a sacrifice\},\par but they also beat people.\par Those people kill sheep as a sacrifice,\par but they also break the necks of dogs!\par Those people offer up grain offerings,\par but they also offer the blood of pigs! {\cf2\super [475]} \par Those people burn incense, {\cf2\super [476]} \par but they also love their worthless idols. {\cf2\super [477]} \par Those people choose their own ways.\par And they also love their terrible idols.\par

God will punish the people, but they will not stop sinning. They will not return to him. They will not follow the Lord All-Powerful.

“I punished you people of Judah,\par but it did not help.\par You did not come back when you were punished.\par You killed with your swords the prophets that came to you.\par You were like a dangerous lion and you killed the prophets.”\par

“Jehoiakim, your eyes look\par only for what benefits yourself.\par You are always thinking about\par getting more for yourself.\par You are willing to kill innocent people.\par You are willing to steal things\par from other people.”\par

“You people are unfaithful. But Come back to me!” This message was from the Lord.

\{The Lord also said,\}\par “People of Israel, you are unfaithful to me.\par But come back to me!\par Come back and I will forgive {\cf2\super [19]} you\par for being unfaithful to me.”\par

Lord, I know that you want people\par to be loyal to you.\par You hit the people of Judah,\par but they did not feel any pain.\par You destroyed them,\par but they refused to learn their lesson.\par They became very stubborn.\par They refused to be sorry\par for the bad things they did.\par
