8 Men used force and took him—and they did not judge him fairly. No person can tell about his future family, because he was taken from the land of living people. He was punished to pay for the sins of my people.

Look for me among the dead people.\par I am like a dead body lying in the grave,\par one of the dead people you forgot,\par cut off from you and your care.\par


For this reason, I will reward him among my people. He will have a share of all things with the people that are strong. \{I will do this for him\} because he gave his life for the people and died.


But he was given pain to suffer for the wrong things we did. He was crushed for our guilt. A debt we owed—our punishment—was given to him. We were healed (forgiven) because of his pain.


Before the Lord showed me that the people were against me, I was like a gentle lamb waiting to be butchered. I did not understand that they were against me. They were saying these things about me: “Let us destroy the tree and its fruit! Let us kill him! Then people will forget him.”


Water came up over my head.\par I said to myself,\par “I am finished.”\par


After the 62 weeks, {\cf2\super [112]} the chosen person will be killed. {\cf2\super [113]} He will be gone. {\cf2\super [114]} Then the people of the future leader will destroy the city and the holy place. That end will come like a flood. War will continue until the end. God has ordered that place to be completely destroyed.


This is the family history of Jesus Christ. He came from the family of David {\cf2\super [1]} and Abraham. {\cf2\super [2]}


The Jewish leaders answered, “We have a law that says he must die, because he said that he is the Son of God.”


He was shamed, and all his rights\par were taken away.\par His life on earth was ended.\par There will be no story\par about his family (descendants).”\par \i (Isaiah 53:7-8)\i0 \par


Christ himself died for you. And that one death paid for your sins. He was not guilty, but he died for people who are guilty. He did this to bring you all to God. His body was killed, but he was made alive in the spirit.
