30 So, the “lion” roars loud like the waves of the sea. And the captured people look at the ground, and then there is only darkness. All light becomes dark in this thick cloud.

\{Remember your Creator while you are young,\} before the time comes when the sun and the moon and the stars become dark to you. \{And troubles come again and again\} like one storm after another.


The skies will be dark. The sun, the moon, and the stars will not shine.


“There is a loud noise in the mountains.\par Listen to the noise!\par It sounds like many, many people.\par People from many kingdoms\par are gathering together.\par The Lord All-Powerful is calling\par his army together.\par


Listen to the many, many people!\par They are crying loud like the noise\par from the sea.\par Listen to the noise.\par It is like the crashing\par and crashing of waves in the sea.\par

All fairness and goodness is gone.\par There is only darkness near us,\par so we must wait for the light.\par We hope for a bright light,\par but all we have is darkness.\par


If they look around them at their land, then they will see only trouble and depressing darkness—the dark sadness of people forced to leave their country. And the people that are trapped in that darkness will not be able to free themselves.

Before them, earth and sky shake.\par The sun and the moon become dark.\par And the stars stop shining.\par


Some of you want \{to see\}\par the Lord’s special day \{of judgment\}.\par Why do you want \{to see\} that day?\par The Lord’s special day will bring darkness\par not light!\par


The Lord also said these things:\par “At that time I will cause the sun\par to go down at noon.\par I will make the earth dark on a clear day.\par


“Soon after the trouble of those days, this will happen:
