\{In the future,\} the Lord will again show his love to Jacob. The Lord will again choose the people of Israel. \{At that time,\} the Lord will give those people their land. Then non-Jewish people {\cf2\super [146]} will join themselves to the Jewish people. Both people will join and become one family—Jacob’s family.


\{Lord\} you are a safe place\par for poor people that have needs.\par Many problems begin to defeat these people,\par but you protect them.\par \{Lord\} you are like a house protecting people\par from floods and heat.\par Troubles are like terrible winds and rain.\par The rain hits the wall and runs down,\par but the people in the house are not hurt.\par


\{If this would happen\}, then the king {\cf2\super [294]} would be like a place to hide from the wind and rain. It would be like having streams of water in a dry land. It would be like a cool shadow from a large rock in a hot land.


Those people will live safely in high places. They will be protected in high rock fortresses. Those people will always have food and water.


Crippled people will dance like deer. And the people that can’t talk now will use their voices to sing happy songs. This will happen when springs of water begin flowing in the desert. Springs will flow in the dry land.


Now people see mirages {\cf2\super [331]} \{that look like water\}. But at that time there will be real pools of water. There will be wells in the dry land. Water will flow from the ground. Tall water plants will grow where wild animals once ruled.


This covering will be a place of safety. The covering will protect the people from the heat of the sun. The covering will be a safe place to hide from all kinds of floods and rain.


The Lord will lead his people\par like a shepherd leads sheep.\par The Lord will use his arm (power)\par and gather his sheep together.\par The Lord will pick up the little sheep\par and hold them in his arms.\par Their mothers will walk beside him.\par


“The poor and needy people look for water,\par but they can’t find any.\par They are thirsty.\par Their tongues are very dry.\par I will answer their prayers.\par I will not leave them and let them die.\par


Why? Because I will do new things! Now you will grow like a new plant. Surely you know this is true. I really will make a road in the desert. I really will make rivers in the dry land.


The Lord, the Savior, the Holy One of Israel, says,\par


The Lord led his people through the desert,\par and they never became thirsty!\par Why? Because he made water\par flow from a rock for his people!\par He split the rock,\par and water flowed out!”\par


People in prison will soon be made free.\par Those people will not die and rot in prison.\par Those people will have enough food.\par


You will leave Babylon.\par But they will not force you to leave\par in a hurry.\par You will not be forced to run away.\par You will walk out,\par \{and the Lord will walk with you\}.\par The Lord will be in front of you,\par and the God of Israel will be behind you. {\cf2\super [426]} \par


The Lord says,\par “The mountains may disappear,\par and the hills may become dust.\par But my kindness will never leave you.\par I will make peace with you,\par and it will never end.”\par The Lord shows mercy to you.\par And he is the One that said these things.\par


I became very angry\par and hid from you for a short time.\par But I will comfort you with kindness forever.”\par The Lord your Savior said this.\par


The Lord will always lead you. He will satisfy your soul in dry lands. The Lord will give strength to your bones. You will be like a garden that has much water. You will be like a spring that always has water.


So the Lord my Master said these things.\par “My servants will eat,\par but you evil people will be hungry.\par My servants will drink,\par but you evil people will be thirsty.\par My servants will be happy,\par but you evil people will be shamed.\par


Those people will come back crying.\par But I will lead them and comfort them.\par I will lead those people by streams of water.\par I will lead them on an easy road,\par so that they will not stumble.\par I will lead them in that way\par because I am Israel’s father.\par And Ephraim {\cf2\super [250]} is my firstborn son.\par


Then I will put one shepherd over them, my servant David. He will feed them and be their shepherd.


After the sun was high in the sky, God caused a hot east wind to blow. The sun became very hot on Jonah’s head and Jonah became very, very weak. Jonah asked God to let him die. Jonah said, “It is better for me to die than to live.”


So rule your people with your rod.\par Rule the flock of people\par that belongs to you.\par That flock lives alone in the woods,\par and up on Mount Carmel.\par That flock lives in Bashan and Gilead\par like they did in time past.\par


What great blessings there are for the people that want to do right more than anything else {\cf2\super [59]} !\par God will fully satisfy them.\par


Then Jesus said, “I am the bread that gives life. The person that comes to me will never be hungry. The person that believes in me will never be thirsty.
