I will make your people as many as the dust of the earth. If people could count all the dust on earth, then they could count your people.


I will truly bless you. I will give you many, many descendants, [126] as many as the stars in the sky. There will be as many people as sand on the seashore. And your people will live in cities that they take from their enemies.


You will have many children.\par They will be as many as\par the blades of grass on the earth.\par


Destroy my enemy completely.\par Let the next generation remove his name\par from everything.\par


You criticized those other people.\par Lord, you destroyed those bad people.\par You erased their names forever and ever\par \{from the list of people who are alive\}.\par


Your people are very many. They are like the sands of the sea. But only a few of the people will be left to come back to the Lord. Those people will return to God, but first, your country will be destroyed. God has announced that he will destroy the land. And then goodness will come into the land; it will be like a river flowing full.


The Lord All-Powerful said, “I will stand and fight against those people. I will destroy the famous city, Babylon. I will destroy all the people of Babylon. I will destroy their children, their grandchildren, and their great-grandchildren.” The Lord himself said those things.


“I will pour water for thirsty people. I will make streams flow on dry land. I will pour my Spirit on your children—it will be like a stream of water flowing over your family.


They will grow among the people in the world. They will be like trees growing beside streams of water.


But, I will be patient.\par I will do this for myself.\par People will praise me for not getting\par angry and destroying you.\par You will praise me for waiting.\par


Why? Because you will grow very much.\par Your children will get people\par from many nations,\par Your children will again live in the cities\par that were destroyed.\par


“I will make a new world—and the new heavens and the new earth \{will last forever\}. In the same way, your names and your children will always be with me.


So the Lord will cut off Israel’s head and tail. The Lord will take away the branch and the stalk in one day.


But I will give many descendants to my servant David and to the family group of Levi. They will be as many as the stars in the sky—no person can count all those stars. And they will be as many as the pieces of sand on the seashore—no person can count those pieces of sand.”

The Canaanite people and all the other people in this country will hear about what happened. Then they will attack us and kill all of us! Then what will you do to protect your great name?”
