\{David said,\} “Now, in front of all Israel and God, I tell you these things: Be careful to obey all the commands of the Lord your God! Then you can keep this good land. And you can pass it on to your descendants {\cf2\super [303]} forever.


Azariah went to meet Asa. Azariah said, “Listen to me Asa, and all you people of Judah and Benjamin! The Lord is with you when you are with him. If you look for the Lord, you will find him. But if you leave him, he will leave you.


and if my people who are called by my name become humble and pray, and look for me, and turn away from their evil ways, then I will hear them from heaven. And I will forgive their sin and I will heal their land.


I was embarrassed to ask King Artaxerxes for soldiers and horsemen to protect us as we traveled. There were enemies on the road. The reason I was embarrassed to ask for protection was because of what we had told the king. We had said to King Artaxerxes, “Our God is with every person that trusts him. As for me, this is my prayer to you Lord:\par I want you to accept me!\par God, I want you to answer me with love.\par I know I can trust you to save me.\par


Poor people, you came to worship God.\par You will be happy to know these things.\par


Whenever God killed some of them,\par the others would turn back to him.\par They would come running back to God.\par


People who know your name\par should trust you.\par Lord, if people come to you,\par you will not leave them without help.\par


She is calling out on the busy street corners. She is near the city gates trying to get people to listen to her. \{Wisdom says:\}


The Lord hates the offerings that evil people give. But the Lord is happy to hear a good person’s prayers.


Every word that God says is perfect. God is a safe place for people who go to him.


Listen! The things I teach are important.\par I tell you things that are right.\par


“You people will raise your arms to pray to me—but I will refuse to look at you. You people will say more and more prayers—but I will refuse to listen to you. Why? Because your hands are covered with blood.

I will keep some of the people of Jacob (Israel). Some of the people of Judah will get my mountain. My servants will live there. I will choose the people that will live there.


Some people say, “Ask the fortune tellers and wizards what to do.” (These fortune tellers and wizards whisper and make sounds like birds \{to make people think that they know secret things\}.) \{But I tell you that\} people should ask their God \{for help\}! Those fortune tellers and wizards ask dead people what to do. Why should living people ask something from the dead?


People of this generation, pay attention\par to the Lord’s message!\par


The Lord says this to the nation {\cf2\super [59]} of Israel:\par “Come looking for me and live.\par


Jesus answered, “I have always spoken openly to all people. I always taught in the synagogues {\cf2\super [232]} and in the temple {\cf2\super [233]} area. All the Jews come together there. I never said anything in secret.


But he is teaching where everyone can see and hear him. And no person is trying to stop him from teaching. Maybe the leaders have decided that he really is the Christ. {\cf2\super [109]}


Jesus was still teaching in the temple {\cf2\super [110]} area. Jesus said, “Yes, you know me and you know where I am from. But I have not come by my own authority. I was sent by the One (God) who is true. You don’t know him.


“There are some things that the Lord our God has kept secret. Only he knows those things. But the Lord told us about some things. And those teachings are for us and our descendants [195] forever! And we must obey all the commands in that law.


“The Rock (the Lord)—his work is perfect! Why? Because all his ways are right! God is true and faithful. He is good and honest.


Or when you ask, you don’t receive. Why? Because the reason you ask is wrong. You only want things so that you can use those things for your own pleasures.
