While Peter was talking, a bright cloud came over them. A voice came from the cloud. The voice said, “This (Jesus) is my Son and I love him. I am very pleased with him. Obey him!”

Jesus answered, “Let it be this way for now. We should do all things that are right.” So John agreed to baptize {\cf2\super [45]} Jesus.

And a voice spoke from heaven. The voice said, “This (Jesus) is my Son and I love him. I am very pleased with him.”

Christ ended the law so that every person that believes in him is made right with God.

So do we destroy the law by following the way of faith? No! Faith causes us to be what the law truly wants.

So the law {\cf2\super [56]} is holy, and the command is holy and right and good.

The law put a curse on us. But Christ took away that curse. He changed places with us. Christ put himself under that curse. The Scriptures say, “When a person’s body is put (hung) on a tree, {\cf2\super [32]} that person is under a curse.” {\cf2\super [33]}

Does this mean that the law {\cf2\super [41]} is against God’s promises? No! If there was a law that could give life to people, then we could be made right by following law.

Obey these laws carefully. This will show the people of the other nations that you are wise and understanding. The people of those nations will hear about these laws. Then they will say, ‘Truly, the people of this great nation (Israel) are wise and understanding.’

And no other nation is great enough to have laws and rules as good as the teachings I give you today.

It allows me to be in Christ. In Christ I am right with God, and this being right does not come from my following the law. It comes from God through faith. God uses my faith in Christ to make me right with him.

This is the new agreement I will give the people of Israel. {\cf2\super [89]} \par I will give this agreement in the future, says the Lord:\par I will put my laws in their minds,\par and I will write my laws on their hearts.\par I will be their God,\par and they will be my people.\par
